Our story
Since 1894
The history of the Mohács Iron Foundry began in 1894, when we were still repairing and manufacturing agricultural machinery. Iron foundry was not an immediate direction - but it soon became clear that without our own castings we could not really produce independently and efficiently.
They start from Mohács,
they value us
By the second half of the 20th century, the company's focus had clearly shifted to foundry. By the 1970s, production was running on a weekly basis and the product range began to expand, with the addition of machinery components, industrial fittings, street furniture and utility castings to the portfolio.
In the years after the fall of communism, the company was privately owned by Hungarians, and began the development path that continues today: the conscious building of expertise, machinery and technological background.
In 1999, we introduced the ISO 9001 quality management system, which has been one of the foundations of our foundry work ever since.
In 2011, the company became majority-owned by a domestic investor with strong capital, and Mohácsi Vasöntöde Kft. started its dynamic development:
- Replacement of old cupola kilns with modern induction kilns, improvement of cleaning, quality control, seed preparation, dyeing technology.
- Taking into account environmental regulations, we built noise barriers around the factory site.
- Complete renovation and extension of the entire infrastructure, social blocks, office building, replacement of pavement, upgrading of lighting, landscaping of the entire plant.
- Purchase of lifting equipment, hand tools.
In 2022, another change in ownership took place, with the company becoming majority-owned by a domestic family-owned company, Steel-Metál Kft. The dynamic development continued.
Not only has mechanisation improved, but thus the product range has also been further specialised - in custom-made small batch castings, and medium and large series.
The last few years have been a period of outstanding development:
- Upgrading of the entire sand plant: installation of a new DISA TM 160-45 automatic sand mixer, new conveyors, shingle feeders, suction equipment, storage silos.
- Upgrading your own lab: new spectrometric materials testing equipment (Spectromax), rapid analysis equipment (E4-Quick Lab System).
- Installing a solar panel system.
- Installation of new DISA Match 24/28 automatic moulding machine expected in early 2026
The Mohács Iron Foundry is now a domestically owned family business which is through its dynamic development is unique and small in number, complex geometry from castings all the way to the series production of medium and large castings also optimised.
